School Committee

Purpose

Work with local school boards on issues to protect children. Stay active and informed on all issues pertaining to safety and education of children; seeking to build alliances with parents of all school children.

Accomplishments to-date:

One of our greatest accomplishments to date, after the discovery of sexually explicit materials in Terrebonne Parish public school libraries, is continuing to work with school board members and the administrative office to eliminate them. With our encouragement, they have created a committee to screen all books to ensure they are school-age appropriate. As we branch out, we will be on-watch in other parish schools as well.

Goals:

As we continue to grow, we will be on-watch in St. Mary parish schools as well.

Needs:

Increase the size of our committee to include committee members from the tri-parish areas willing to attend monthly regular school board meetings and monthly SB committee meetings in Terrebonne, Lafourche and St. Mary. Also, attend We The People school committee monthly meeting.
